Baby’s Turkey and Vegetable Dinner

We have a simple homemade baby food recipe for you today that mixes savoury flavours with a touch of sweetness – perfect if your little one is more inclined to enjoy his fruit than his veggies!

Leftover portions will freeze well for up to one month – and, although we’ve specified turkey as the main ingredient, the recipe will work equally well with chicken!

You can use this recipe once your baby is at least 6 months of age, omitting the garlic until a little later if you prefer. But do ensure that you have previously introduced your baby to all these ingredients separately, as per the four day rule.

To Make Baby’s Turkey and Vegetable Dinner You Will Need…

1 garlic clove, crushed
6 oz skinless turkey breast, chopped
4 oz (around 1 cup) green beans, trimmed and chopped
5 broccoli florets
8 oz (1 cup) cooked chickpeas (garbanzo beans)*
olive oil
pure, unsweetened apple juice

*If you use canned chickpeas, buy the low sodium variety and rinse them thoroughly before use.

Heat a little olive oil in a frying pan/skillet and cook the garlic for 1 minute.
Add the turkey and cook, stirring, until the turkey is cooked through and shows no signs of pink.
Meanwhile, place the green beans, broccoli florets and chickpeas in a small saucepan. Just cover with apple juice.
Bring to the boil, then lower the heat and simmer for several minutes until the beans and broccoli are tender.
Drain, reserving the apple juice.
Place the cooked turkey in a blender along with the veggie mixture.
Puree until smooth, adding the reserved apple juice back in until you get the texture you desire.
Cool to a safe serving temperature… and baby’s delicious turkey dinner is now ready to eat!
