Easy Cheesy Bites for Baby
Jun 5th, 2008 by Christine
Today’s homemade baby food recipe for Easy Cheesy Bites is perfect for babies who are enjoying finger food with some texture! These yummy little snacks are very more-ish - in fact, we tend to add a little cayenne pepper to make a separate batch for the grown ups, too!
Here’s what you’ll need…
2 oz (1/2 cup) flour
2 oz (1/4 cup) unsalted butter at room temperature
6 oz (1 1/2 cups) Cheddar cheese, grated
2 tsp fresh thyme (chopped) or pinch dried thyme
4 tbsp crisped rice cereal
Preheat the oven to 350 deg F (180 deg C).
Put the flour, cheese, butter and thyme into a food processor and mix at the slowest setting until a dough is formed.
Put the dough into a bowl and carefully fold in the crisped rice cereal.
Divide the mixture into small balls (about 1 tbsp each), roll gently in the hands and place them on an ungreased baking sheet (leaving a few inches between each ball).
Flatten with the palm of your hand to create circles about 1 1/2 in diameter, then place in the oven.
Bake for 10-15 minutes, until the Cheese Bites are a pale gold colour and firm to the touch.
These can be eaten hot or cold - they can also be frozen, although we recommend freezing the mixture prior to baking it for best results!
