Flaked Fish With Parsley Sauce Recipe

If you’re stuck for inspiration when it comes to fish dishes for your baby, here’s a simple recipe to try that’s full of flavour and ready in under 10 minutes! It’s ideal for babies from around 7 months of age onwards, who don’t mind a little texture to their meals!
Our little ones enjoy this served with mashed potato (white or sweet potato work equally well) – but it would be great served with brown rice, too!
To make baby’s Flaked Fish With Parsley Sauce you will need…
2 fl oz (1/4 cup) milk (use breast milk or formula if you prefer)
6 oz (3/4 cup) white fish fillet*
1 tsp unsalted butter
2 1/2 tsp flour (all purpose/plain)
1 tbsp low sodium or homemade chicken stock
pinch freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 tsp finely chopped fresh parsley
* Try any of the following: tilapia, halibut, pollock, halibut, sole, haddock, hake, grouper.
CHECK, CHECK and DOUBLE CHECK for bones – even if the fish is sold as boneless
In a small frying pan/skillet, heat the milk, then add the fish and poach for 5 mins, until the it flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through.
Remove the fish from the pan (reserving the milk) and transfer to baby’s bowl. Flake thoroughly.
In a separate pan, melt the butter and stir in the flour. Cook for a couple of minutes, then remove from the heat and gradually add the milk, stirring continuously.
Next, stir in the chicken stock and seasonings and return to the heat.
Cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
Mix the fish flakes with the sauce and baby’s fishy dish is ready!
