Introducing Baby Food at 4 Months or 5 Months
Oct 15th, 2009 by Christine
Leading healthcare organizations around the world recommend that babies are given only breastmilk or formula for the first 6 months of life, because they provide all the nutrients that your baby needs. We support this advice and much of the information on our site relates to babies of 6 months of age and older.
However, we sometimes receive messages from parents who have been advised to introduce solids at 4 months – and sometimes, this is because their babies have special requirements, meaning they need solid foods earlier than is generally recommended.
So we’ve created a new page on our site, filled with helpful guidelines for those of you who wish to introduce solid foods before 6 months of age. Along with tips and information about getting started, we’ve also included some experiences of other parents who have given their babies solid foods at 4 or 5 months of age.
