Recall of Baby Hammocks (US)

| August 6, 2009 | 0 Comments

Recall of Baby HammocksYayita Baby Hammocks are being recalled because they can flip over, posing a fall hazard and also the risk that a baby could be strangled by the restraint straps if the hammock turns upside down. No injuries have been reported so far, thank goodness.

The hammock involved, measuring 29 x 43 inches, is made from cream colored canvas and hangs from a wooden pole. It has three restraint straps with red buckles and includes a cushioned pad for baby to lie on. The hammock comes with a fixing set (a mounting fixture) and there is a tag under the restraint straps that bears the words “La Siesta”. The hammock has a model number of YABN-1, which you can find on a white tag, which is sewn into the side seam of the hammock.

These hammocks were sold from October 2007 through October 2008 for around $100 by Nova Natural online at www.novanatural.com. They were also sold from July 2005 through August 2008 in Kaplan’s 2005-2007 Infant, Toddlers & Two (ITT) catalog and online at www.kaplanco.com.

If you have one of these hammocks then you should – of course – stop using it.
