Recall of Gel Filled Teethers (US)

All Nuby Gel Filled Teethers are being recalled today – and so are certain UPC Codes of Cottontails and Playschool Teethers

The problem is that the gel they contain has been found to be contaminated with two types of bacteria, known as Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus circulans. According to the FDA, these bacteria do not usually cause illness in a healthy individual but may cause stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea in children with weakened immune systems if the teether becomes punctured and the gel is ingested.

These teethers were distributed through retail outlets nationwide and via the internet. They are packaged in a plastic bubble on a printed card which bears a UPC code. The recall includes Nuby Gel Filled Teethers and Cottontails and Playschool Teethers with the UPC codes listed below:
