Recall of Ground Beef Products (US)
May 22nd, 2008 by Christine
We have another alert regarding ground beef products to tell you about today - this time, the beef was produced at Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. and sold to Sherm’s Food-4-Less retail establishment in Medford, Oregon. It was then processed into variously sized packs of ground beef and sold to consumers from May 7 through May 19. This meat may be contaminated by the bacterium E. coli O157:H7.
This isn’t officially a recall - because none of the products are still available for sale - but the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is advising consumers who might have bought this meat between the dates shown at Sherm’s to check their freezers to see if they still have any. If you DO have some, please discard it OR return it to Sherm’s for a full refund.
If you have any questions about this alert, please contact the Tyson hotline at (866) 328-3156.
You can also find more information about preparing ground beef safely - and further details about the effects of E. coli contamination - at http://www.fsis.usda.gov
