Recall of Potato Products (US)
Feb 24th, 2009 by Christine
The prepared potato products involved in today’s recall may not be something that you’d feed your baby – nevertheless, we thought it would be a good idea to tell you about them… just in case!
20 oz bags of Simply Potatoes Red Potato Wedges, Simply Potatoes Shredded Hash Browns and Simply Potatoes Homestyle Slices have been withdrawn by Giant Food and Stop & Shop. All these products have “use by” dates ranging from March 29 to April 3, 2009.
And the reason for this recall?
Well, the products may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause symptoms similar to the flu and can be dangerous for pregnant women or those with weak immune systems.
If you have these products, you are advise to throw them away and bring your receipt to the store you bought them from for a refund (if you don’t have the receipt, we’d recommend bringing back the packaging).
