Recall of Solid Light Tuna in Olive Oil (US)
Feb 22nd, 2009 by Christine
Tri-Union Seafoods is recalling its 5-ounce variety of Genova solid light tuna in olive oil. The problem is that the cans are mislabeled and actually contain albacore tuna in soybean oil with vegetable broth that contains soy. This makes the tuna unsuitable for anyone who needs to avoid soy in their diets and could cause a serious allergic reaction in a sensitive individual.
If you bought the 5-ounce variety of Genova solid light tuna in olive oil with the UPC code 4800013265, “Best By Date 10/17/12″ and product code DEHAH 1A225 or DEHBH 1A225, then please return it to the store you bought it from for a refund. You can find the UPC code (or bar code) on the side of the can. The best by date and product code are ink jet printed on the bottom of the can.
