Safety Notice Regarding Cosatto Cot Beds and Bumbo Baby Seats (UK)

Two separate safety notices have been issued regarding Cosatto Cot Beds and Bumbo Baby Seats.

The first notice concerns the following cot beds:

ALBANY 3 in 1 cot bed – Nut & cream finishes

STRATFORD 3 in 1 cot bed – Nut finish: exclusively sold by Argos CAT no. 377/3327

STRATFORD cot bed – Nut & white finishes: made between April and September 2009

You can find the product description label, plus a label showing the date code on the base of the mattress.

The warning concerns the security screws on the cots, which need to be removed when the cot is being converted to a junior bed (or, where applicable, a sofa), to allow the sections to separate.

It’s important to note that these screws MUST be replaced if the junior bed is later converted back to a cot.

If the screws are not replaced, a gap may form between the lower and upper cot bed end sections if the cot is lifted or moved, or the drop side mechanism could partially disassemble. Either scenario would, of course, pose hazards to baby.

The manufacturers, therefore, have produced an addendum to the original instruction leaflet.

If you have any questions or need some screws, please contact Cosatto on 0871 977 3900 (Option 1) or via email at techhelp@cosatto.com

The second safety notice concerns Bumbo Baby Seats.

In the US and Canada, Bumbo International Trust voluntarily chose to add a restraint belt and new warnings to the Bumbo® Baby Seat because there is a possibility that infants can wriggle out of the seat, posing a risk of fall injuries.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission in the U.S. and the Bumbo company decided that this issue can be prevented by adding a restraint belt to the Bumbo when it is used as recommended (on the floor with adult supervision and never on raised surfaces). Bumbo is also providing a new warning sticker for users to stick to the seat, highlighting current warnings against using the seat on a raised surface.

TOMY, the authorised UK distributors of the Bumbo Baby Seat, are offering the same solution to Bumbo users in the UK.

You can request a kit which contains a belt with a new warning sticker, plus instructions for installation and the correct use of the Bumbo. You do not need to return the Bumbo Baby Seat.

To obtain your free kit or if you have any questions, please contact TOMY directly by calling 01271 336155 or email tomy@responseuk.co.uk
