Why Oatmeal Is So Good For Your Baby
Nov 19th, 2008 by Christine
We recently wrote an article about the suitability (or not!) of baby rice as a first food for little ones. Here’s the link in case you missed it.
One of the healthy alternatives to rice cereal we suggested was oatmeal.
Oatmeal – also known as porridge in some parts of the world – is a highly nutritious food and seems less likely to trigger some of the problems commonly asociated with the introduction of solids – chiefly constipation.
What’s more, it’s by no means essential to start your baby off with commercially prepared infant oatmeal… making your own is easy and cheaper!
We now have a new section on our site devoted to cooking oatmeal for baby, with advice on how to prepare oats as a first food, a list of the different types of oats available, details of their nutritional benefits – and, as always, some yummy homemade baby food recipes!
