The CPSC has announced an expanded recall of “Molly” and “Betsy” Cribs, which were originally recalled in 2001. The fear now is that these cribs may still be available in thrift and second hand stores and that parents may not be aware of the hazards they pose.
Despite the 2001 recall, a one year old girl was killed in 2003 when her head became trapped in the cut-out in the end panel of the crib.
Both cribs in this recall are made of wood. The solid wood end panels on the “Molly” style cribs are made of with openings on both sides. The end panels on the “Betsy” style cribs are constructed with wood slats. The model numbers are printed inside the headboard at the bottom.

These cribs were sold at juvenile specialty stores nationwide from May 2000 through September 2001. The Molly model sold for around $700 and the Betsy model for around $650. The cribs have not been available for sale in retail stores since 2001.
