Do you have a phil&teds metoo travel high chair? If so, then please note that the CPSC is warning that some of these chairs are hazardous for a variety of reasons and has warned all parents to stop using them immediately.
Some metoo chairs come with a plastic spacer between the front metal bar and the table clamp. Chairs WITHOUT the spacer are the ones affected by this warning, although even the chairs WITH the spacer are now being evaluated.
There is actually quite a bit of controversy surrounding this warning, with the CPSC stating that phil&ted has refused to a national recall of the metoo chairs. Also, depsite phil&ted’s claim that the repair kit it is offering is “in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission”, it has NOT actually been approved by the CPSC at all!
According to the CPSC, there have been “numerous” incidents involving the chairs mentioned in this warning, caused by the fact that the clamps can detach from different table surfaces. There is also a problems with the space between the clamp and the bar at the front of the chair, which could cause severe injuries to a child’s fingers.
