Baby’s Pasta With Vegetable Sauce

Pasta is one of those foods that seems perfectly designed to feed babies!

It is soft and easy to gum, even for babies with no teeth at all. This makes it ideal for transitioning from smooth purees to texture. It is also relatively bland in taste and just takes on the flavor of whatever sauce you serve with it.

This recipe for Baby’s Pasta With Vegetable Sauce is very versatile and you can adapt it in different ways to suit your baby.

Either serve it with a spoon just as it is, or as a finger food for baby-led weaners.

If your baby is only just getting to grips with texture, you can cut the pasta into little pieces before stirring the sauce into it. And if doesn’t like any texture at all, you can simply puree all the ingredients together!

Why this dish is so healthy for your baby

This yummy, saucy pasta is made with three different types of veggies for triple the goodness.

Just look at the nutrients it delivers…

  • The carrots are a rich source of beta-carotene and packed with antioxidants.
  • The canned tomatoes contain plenty of vitamins and minerals. They are also a great source of lycopene, which offers protection against serious diseases. And the good news is that there is more lycopene in canned tomatoes than fresh.
  • The cannellini beans provide fiber, iron, vitamins, and protein.

A make-ahead meal for busy weeknights

Another great thing about this meal is that it freezes and reheats really well.

You could easily double the ingredients and make a supply to last you throughout the month – ideal for those busy days when there’s just no time to cook.

The pasta sauce is delicious – good enough for the family to share

This recipe doesn’t have to be for JUST your baby!

The sauce has a wonderful flavor, the slight acidity of the tomatoes offset by the lovely sweetness of the carrots.

Try serving it as a family meal – it’s a great way to increase everyone’s veggie intake (and fussy toddlers won’t even realize just how many vegetables they’re consuming!).

To Make Baby’s Pasta With Vegetable Sauce You Will Need…

4 oz pasta (you can use any pasta your baby enjoys)
1/2 can chopped tomatoes
4 small carrots, peeled if not organic
1/2 cup cannellini beans (preferably low sodium, drained and rinsed well)
pinch of baby’s favorite herbs (optional)
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese (optional)

1. Dice the carrots and boil or steam until tender.

2. Meanwhile, boil a pan of water for the pasta and cook according to the directions on the packaging. Small pasta pieces are ideal for this recipe. We used tri-colour teddy pasta from Aldi. Isn’t it cute?
