Just a quick post today to share a neat little trick to turn all purpose flour into self rising flour.
Our post was prompted by a message from mom Jenny in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who wanted to use our Easy Banana Bread recipe but didn’t have any self rising flour to hand. She wondered if we could suggest a substitute.
It’s actually very simple to create your own self rising flour (also known as self raising flour in parts of Europe). All you need to do is add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder to every cup of all purpose flour (otherwise known as ‘plain’ flour) that you use.
And that’s all there is to it – you now have self rising flour to use as required in your recipes.
