Great news for UK Mums – from May 1st 2009, Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways will be introducing a luggage allowance of 10kg for babies under the age of two. This will be in addition to the folding pushchair that passengers are already allowed to carry free of charge.
This change to the baggage rules comes after Co-operative Travel began complaining that the luggage needed for a baby – such as food, milk, nappies and wipes – can weigh up to 15kg for a week’s supply. And that doesn’t include essential extras like car seats and travel cots.
Two other airlines – British Airways and Virgin Atlantic – already offer a luggage allowance for babies.
It’s great to hear that Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways will be making things a little cheaper for parents travelling with babies… lets hope that more airlines follow suit!
