Beco Baby Butterfly Carriers are being recalled because a fault with the buckles on the shoulder straps means they could release tension unexpectedly. This causes the strap to slip through – which means that a baby could fall from the carrier.
The company has received eight reports of the strap slipping through – but, thankfully, no reports of injuries.
These carriers have a black label with a green “b” logo on the left hand side and a butterfly on the right side, with the label is sewn on the outside of the carrier.
The styles included in this recall are Sophia, Mia, Pony Express, Addison, Carnival, Ethan, Cameron, Ava and Joshua.
They were sold for around $140 at specialty stores and via the internet from January 2008 through February 2008
If you have one of these carriers, please – of course – stop using it and contact Beco Baby Carrier, who will provide instructions on how to return it for repair.
You can contact Beco Baby Carrier Inc. toll-free at (888) 943-8232/9-GET-BECO between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit their website.
