Dorel Asia SRL, of Barbados, is recalling drop side and non-drop side cribs because they may pose suffocation and strangulation hazards to infants and toddlers.
The drop side hardware can fail, which can cause the drop side to detach from the crib. When this happens, it creates a space in which an infant or toddler could become entrapped and suffocate or strangle.
Further problems with these cribs are that they may pose a serious entrapment and strangulation hazard when a slat is damaged. This might happen while the crib is in use, being stored, being put together, taken apart or reassembled; or during shipping and handling.
Sadly, one child has already died following an incident involving one of these cribs and there have been multiple reports of problems with the drop sides and slats.

These cribs were sold at K-Mart, Sears and Wal-Mart stores nationwide for between $120 and $700 from January 2005 through December 2009.
If you have one of these cribs, you should stop using it immediately and contact Dorel Asia to receive a free replacement kit.
