Eddie Bauer Soothe & Sway Play Yards are being recalled because they pose a suffocation hazard. The problem is that the rocking bassinet attachment can still tilt even after being secured by straps in the non-rocking mode – or, whilst in the rocking mode, it can stay tilted and not return to a level sleeping surface. This means a baby can roll to the corner or the side of the bassinet – hence the risk of asphyxiation.
There have been 10 reports of this occurring – frighteningly, one child was purple and out of breath when found.
The play yard involved has a bassinet, a changing station and a mobile with three teddy bears.
In the US, the models involved in this recall are:
05046 (all units) and 05044 units manufactured before December 1, 2008.

You can find the model number and manufacture date printed on a sticker on one of the support legs underneath the yard. Dates are printed in the YY/MM/DD format.
In the US, these play yards were sold at Target, Sears, and Burlington Coat Factory stores nationwide and Internet retailers from January 2008 through May 2009 for about $150.
Unfortunately, we don’t have details of exactly where these yards were sold in Canada.
If you have this product, you are advised to stop using the bassinet attachment, although you may continue using the play yard. You should then contact Dorel Juvenile Group for a $40 voucher toward the purchase of a new Dorel product.
