Recall of Fixed Sided Cribs (US)

Albee Baby is recalling International/Sorelle Brand “Prescott” fixed-sided cribs. These cribs, which are re-labeled fixed-sided Simplicity cribs, contain tubular metal mattress-support frames that were recalled in April 2010. The problem is that the mattress support frames can bend or detach, causing part of the mattress to drop. This creates a space into which a baby or toddler might roll and become trapped – or a child may fall from the crib completely.

There have been many incidents reported in connection with these cribs, including the death of a one-year-old child from Attleboro, Mass. According to the CPSC, one consumer removed the Sorelle Prescott label from the crib and found a Simplicity crib label underneath. (She had bought the crib in July of 2009, before the Simplicity mattress support recall.)

The cribs are full-sized and sold in an oak finish, as 3-in-1 or 4-in-1 convertible cribs. On a label attached to the headboard or footboard you can find printed “Sorelle Furniture”, plus the company’s address, the crib’s model number and a manufacturer’s code.

Only Sorelle “Prescott” cribs sold online by AlbeeBaby.com between July 2009 and October 2009 for between $180 and $210 are included in this recall.

If you have one of these cribs, please stop using it and contact Albee Baby for a replacement crib, store credit or refund. You can contact Albee Baby toll-free at (877) 692-5233 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit their website.
