Warning to Canadian Parents Regarding Bambino Reale Cribs

Health Canada is warning parents to stop using Bambino Reale branded cribs with model numbers beginning with 612C. This is an expansion to the original warning given on February 20, 2009 for Canadians to stop using all cribs with the model number 612C19CH.The new advisory now includes ALL Bambino Reale cribs beginning with the model number 612C.

The crib’s model number may be 7 or 8 digits long (for example 612C XXX or 612C XXXX). The last three or four digits in the model number relate to the colour of the product.

The cribs present a serious fall hazard to young children – they do not meet minimum side height safety requirements OR labelling requirements. The lack of side height means there is not enough of a ‘barrier’ to stop babies or young children from falling or climbing out of the crib.

Although no injuries have yet been reported, Health Canada says that parents should stop using these cribs immediately. It also recommends tha parents disassemble the cribs and dispose of them in a way that will prevent their ever being used again.

You are also asked to contact Health Canada if you ever see these cribs for sale.
