Did you know that there’s a very simple way to make your baby food recipes even MORE nutritious, without your little one even noticing?
Well, adding flax is one of the quickest and easiest ways to give your baby’s food a boost!
Flax seeds – also known as linseeds in some part of the world – are a rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids, fibre and a host of other nutrients. They can be finely ground (or bought ‘ready milled’), then stirred into your baby’s favourite meals, either savoury or sweet. The mild flavour of flax is barely distinguishable when combined with other foods – yet the goodness the seeds impart to the dish is truly impressive!
If you’ve never used flax before – or never even heard of it – then our new page all about these super seeds is just what you need!
It provides a step-by-step guide to buying, storing and preparing flax seeds for your baby and even suggests a few delicious recipes to try.

Our son, now 9 months old, suffered terrible constipation despite a ban on constipating foods and a diet rich in fiber. We started adding a teaspoon of ground flax seed to his yogurt every morning, and the problem is solved.

There hasn't been a great deal of research done into Chia seeds, particularly as to how suitable they are for babies. We have never used them ourselves. From what we HAVE read about them, there certainly don't seem to be any harmful aspects, although it seems they may not quite live up to some of the extravagant claims made about their benefits! If you'd like to offer them to your baby (ground, of course) then we recommend checking with your doctor first. Please do let us know how you get on... we plan to look at Chia seeds more closely and plan a future article about their use, so we'd appreciate any feedback :)
