Our apologies – somehow we missed this important warning earlier this week regarding Mommy’s Bliss Nipple Cream, which is marketed by MOM Enterprises Inc. in San Rafael, California.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning parents to neither use or buy this cream because it contains ingredients that may be harmful to babies, potentially causing respiratory problems or vomiting and diarrhea.
The purpose of this cream is to heal and soothe sore nipples from breastfeeding. The label states that it’s OK to leave the cream on during nursing – but the FDA says that two ingredients – chlorphenesin and phenoxyethanol – may cause harm, because their interaction can “further increase the risk of slow or shallow breathing (respiratory depression) in nursing infants”.

I had really sore cracked nipples the first week I was nursing my daughter. I was putting Lasinoh cream on my nipples, but it was so thick that putting it on was painful. Then, a friend suggested the Made from Earth Aloe & Jojoba Creme Therapy.
Wow, what a difference, it is oily but goes on smooth and heals the nipples like you would not believe. It does have a GREAT smell. Highly recommended!

I never had any complaints about this product. For me it worked great and I know other women who use it and are very happy with it. I asked my husband, who is a pharmacist, about the “potentially harmful ingredients.” He told me that these are commonly used preservatives and their amount in the nipple cream is negligible. I am a big fan of natural products for babies and this company has several that are very helpful – one of which is the Baby’s Bliss Gripe Water for colic. It does wonders!
